Bible Verses

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." -Philippians 4:6

This is one of my favorite verses. I have this one memorized and say it to myself frequently. How can I not be anxious about ANYTHING? I think this is an example of what Jesus wants us to strive for. Trusting him means I don't doubt he's plan. Trusting him means I'm not resentful that pregnancy may not be in the cards for us. Trusting him means letting go of any time table I had for how our family would be created.

"16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." -1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

This is another one I lean on. It's the wallpaper on my phone. "Rejoice always" is something I need to remember. This reminds me of Ann Voskamp's journey to being thankful for 1,000 things. This means finding joy in all things, no matter what.

"My days are past, my plans are torn apart, Even the wishes of my heart." -Job 17:11

This is not a favorite. While reading the book of Job, this verse caught my eye. Job lost EVERYTHING and was physically attacked. On top of that, his friends blamed him for being sinful but I can relate on some level. One version said it like this, "My days have passed, my plans are shattered, and so are the desires of my heart."
